Facebook says users can't turn off notifications entirely, but they can choose what they get notified about and how they are notified.

To choose what notifications you receive, follow the steps below.

• Click at the top-right corner and select Settings
• Click Notifications on the left
• Click to adjust how you get notifications and what you get notified about
