How to See Who Shared Your Post on Facebook | How do I see who shared my post?

Facebook's Share feature is a great way for you and your friends to share content through the social network. But how do you know who is sharing your posts? Here's how to see who shared your post on Facebook.

1) Check Your Notifications

If you've recently posted something, the easiest way to check if it's been shared is to check your notifications:

  • Tap the alarm bell in the top right corner of Facebook and see what new notifications are there. If a post has been shared, it'll tell you the name of the person and how many hours ago they shared it.
  • You may also receive an email informing you of this, depending on if you have email updates set up.
  • Check the Original Post
  • It's possible to check directly from your timeline whether someone has shared your content.

2) Select your name on the main Facebook page.

  • Scroll down to look at your posts.
  • If you see text directly underneath a post that says something like '1 share' (or more if you're popular), that means it's been shared.

  • Select the text to gain more information about who has shared it. The information may include the name of the friend who shared it, anything extra they've added to it such as commentary, and any comments they may have received from their friends.

However, some posts may not appear due to the person's privacy settings.

  • You're done!

How to Find Older Posts

How do I find who shared a post from longer ago? That's a little trickier but still fairly simple to do:

  • Select the search box at the top of Facebook and type in a phrase connected to the post, then press Enter.

  • On the left hand side of the results, select Posts From You to see your earlier post, then select Share to see who else has shared it.
  • If you want to see what else your friends are saying about the subject? Select Your Friends to see related posts.
  • You're done!

How to See Who Has Shared Other Posts

Sometimes, you might want to see who has shared a public post that isn't yours. It's equally just as simple to do.

  • Go to the post in question, such as on a Facebook page or friend's account.
  • Select Share, and you can see a list of the people who have shared the post.
  • Depending on the person's privacy settings, you might not see everyone who has shared the post.

  • You're done!
